One of the issues of "cognitive debt" that studies have shown to arise from prolonged use of ChatGPT is "diminished critical inquiry," something that disrupts what the Existentialists would perceive as our opportunity to face absurdity.

Failing to Question

A second issue of "cognitive debt" that comes from a prolonged use of ChatGPT is a "vulnerability to manipulation," which I argue opens us up to what the Existentialists call bad faith.

The AI Threat to Creativity

A third issue of "cognitive debt" is "decreased creativity." I argue that Existentialists perceive our lives as being acts of creation, and that - with no a priori meaning - failing to be creative is to fail to live.
